Roy Blatchford spent two years working as Executive Director – Education in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Roy was Founding Director (2006 – 2016) of the UK’s National Education Trust, an independent not-for-profit foundation which leads excellent practice and innovation in education. He continues to work closely with UK Department for Education civil servants and Ministers on curriculum development.
He has extensive experience of writing inspection frameworks, and has reviewed over 1000 schools, colleges and faculties in Europe, India, USA, Middle and Far East. He served as one of Her Majesty’s Inspectors of Schools (HMI) in England, with national responsibilities for school improvement and for the inspection of outstanding schools.
Roy is a Fellow at Oxford Brookes University, has been a Visiting University Professor in the USA, and is co-founder of the Mumbai-based education foundation Adhyayan. He is the author/editor of over 150 books for students, parents and teachers, including the best-selling ‘The English Teacher’s Handbook’, ‘Sparkling Classrooms’, ‘Towards A Primary Curriculum’, ‘The Restless School’ and ‘Success is a Journey’.
Roy was appointed CBE for services to education in the 2016 New Year Honours.
